Registered Massage Therapy
Please note: I don’t offer a traditional Swedish massage style of massage therapy. If this is something you are looking for, I can refer you to another RMT who offers this approach.
Registered Massage Therapy is a safe and effective regulated health profession that uses the assessment and treatment of soft tissue (muscle, fascia, ligaments, tendon) to help with injury prevention, pain management, and other health conditions. People seek massage therapy for a variety of reasons, and it can help with many aspects of your health and wellness goals. Some common benefits of massage therapy include:
Decreased pain symptoms
Improved sensory awareness
Improved range of motion
Decreased stress
Improved circulation and digestion
Improved performance with activities
Myofascial Release
Myofascial Release is a slow therapeutic approach within the massage therapy scope of practice that addresses how connective tissue (fascia) is involved in various health conditions. Fascia is a connective tissue that forms a continuous web throughout our entire body. It weaves in between muscle, visceral, neural and vascular tissue, and because of its web-like nature, can pull and create strain on these various tissues as a result of injury, impact or reinforced nervous system guarding.
Myofascial Release helps address these areas by providing slow, sustained hands-on contact to help take strain off of areas where excessive strain might be present. It is done using no massage oil. The nervous system responds to this slow, sustained pressure by promoting a “let down” response, where the tissue holding pattern can release and relieve the area of strain. The resulting sensitivity can lessen as the nervous system regulates itself.
